On behalf of the Wisconsin Fire Inspectors Association, we would like to offer our condolences to the Phillips' family and the Athelstane Volunteer Fire Department of Wisconsin. FireFighter Robert Phillips, 64, a 3 year veteran of the Athelstane Volunteer Fire Department and 26 veteran firefighter, died Friday October 26, 2007. Bob was operating the pump after fire operations at a chimney and roof fire were winding down when he collapsed from an apparent heart attack. He was transported to a Marinette County Hospital where he passed away shortly after.
Bob sold fire gear and equipment for Flemings Fire 1, Inc. in Stone Bank. Robert had a great passion for working in small town volunteer fire departments. He was a 23-year member of the City of Delafield Volunteer Fire Department working from 1966 until 1989, where he held the positions of Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief. After retiring he spent most of his time in Athelstane where he was a member of their volunteer fire department for the past three years.
Bob leaves behind his wife Kathleen and his daughter Kim.
