SECRETARIES REPORT

Motion by Mike Boehmer, seconded by Mark Hoppenjan to accept the minutes as posted. Motion carried.





TREASURER'S REPORT

Gil Hucek reported that we presently have:
$ 2050.45 checking
45550.68 savings
47601.13 total
Motion by Paul Yakowenko, seconded by Ed Jeffries to accept the treasurers report as read. Motion carried.

FIRE AND EMS COALITION

Mark Hoppenjan reported that the fireworks law was being looked at and the local liability for user permits were being looked at. 
Of the bills that were brought up last year, the bill for reimbursement of calls on the state s highways was passed.The amount for highway reimbursement was increased from $200 to $500.

Jan Harter reported that the web site is up and running and that Jon Holcomb, our new web person is doing a great job. Email will be set up for each board member.
Dave Lind reported that more links could be added and if anyone could think of other links, they should contact Jon at the web site.
Mark Hoppenjan asked if the content of the material posted is being looked at to avoid obsene material. Dave Lind will ask Jon to activate parental controls.

SOG AND BY-LAW

M Boehmer introduced an SOG change to increase the amount an area chapter may spend annually from $100 to $250. 
M Boehmer introduced language in the SOG's to require an annual outside audit.
M Boehmer introduced a change in the SOG's to allow an increase in the meal allowances. They would be increased from $5 to $6 for breakfast, $6 to $10 for lunch and $12 to $20 for dinner. 
M Boehmer introduced a change in the conference location selection in bylaw V C 6 to have the board of directors vote on conference locations.
Motion by Dave Lind, seconded by Steve Koback to accept the change in the by-law as written to allow the board of directors to select the conference sites. Motion carried with one decenting vote.

MEMBERSHIP

G Hucek reported that membership is down about 80 members at this time.A list will be prepared to compare the 2003 and 2004 memberships.

AWARDS COMMITTEE

S Koback reported that the awards committee received nominations for Fire Educator of the Year from career and volunteer departments and two awards will be given out on Thursday at lunch. They also received nominations for Fire Chief of the Year and this will be given out in June at the Chiefs' conference.

WISCONSIN ALLIANCE FOR FIRE SAFETY

Bob Vajgrt advised the members that a check for $2000 will be presented to the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety for the burn camp on Thursday at lunch.

FIRE SERVICE JOINT ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Tod Doebler brought up the direction the state is going to required all emergency responders to have credentials. 
The state is also looking for more IFSAC accredidation. The fire inspector 1 class is being rewritten. If anyone has comments or concerns for the curriculum, they should contact Tod Doebler.
Bob Vajgrt will be writing to the Department of Commerce requesting certification of fire inspectors.

FIRE FIGHTER MEMORIAL

Steve Koback reported that the fire fighter memorial will be unveiled on October 2. They are in need of more funding.

NEW BUSINESS

Dave Lind brought up food for thought and the possibility of raising the membership costs to $35.00 to use the extra $10.00 to award grants to fire departments that can not afford to send people to the conferences.
Dave Lind brought up the possibility of combining the two conferences. The code and pub ed conference could become one big conference held once a year.Mike Boehmer requested that slots be available for the juvenile firesetter curriculum at the conference.
Jan Harter mentioned that the Comm 14 rewrite is stalled. Dave Lind and Marty King were present and both expressed concern over the direction the committee is headed.

Motion by Steve Koback, Seconded by Mike Boehmer to adjourn. Motion carried.
